45 min Session
Audience Focus: Elementary, Leadership
We will take a look at the opportunities and challenges your students face living and learning in an interconnected digital world. We will discuss specific steps you can take as their teacher to overcome the challenges and capitalize on the opportunities. And since teaching digital citizenship is most effective when it’s a community-based effort, we’ll look at ways you can support parents in guiding their children’s use of technology. Participants will be introduced to the Indiana K-8 standards addressing digital citizenship and the Common Sense Education Curriculum to support this work.

On and off the job, Michelle is a Champion of Digital Learners & Leaders. Two projects she’s proud of starting since joining the IDOE include the #INeLearn Twitter Chat and the Hoosier Student Digital Leaders program #HSDLead. She also leads the work on digital citizenship education and would love to help you be certifiable (and yes, that’s a good thing).
